Andrew Thompson works with discarded objects in quantities and configurations which imply that circumstances are spiraling out of control. Having grown up on the edge of Tornado Alley, but never witnessed a tornado, and then relocating to Auto Alley after it began to revert to nature, he searches for meaning in the symbolic language used to define regional place and individual identity.

One of the favored spots to sit in this gallery at art openings is on the bench seat in the bay window. This sculpture was conceived as a way to showcase that privileged location. The piece operated both as a large-scale object from a distance and as an installation that encloses the viewer as they move closer to the window and find themself under the artwork. The piece uses my own personal clothing and bedsheets & blankets along with donated clothing from family and friends.
