This was my fourth tableau of trash figures, but it diverged from the previous pieces that were expressing some lived trauma. This time the tableau is interrogating interpersonal relationships, in particular the one between me and my mother at the time. I love my mother very much. I would do nearly anything for her if she asked me to. Yet she had a habit of not wanting to impose requests upon those around her. Instead of asking me to refill her coffee cup when she desired it to be so, she’d wait until I stood up to tend to something of my own and make a request that would begin with the title of the work.
