While taking a wood carving class at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, the two wood studio classes took a field trip to Jerry’s Artarama in Knoxville, TN. Even though I don’t usually source my art materials from art supply retailers, it was a joyful experience to be in an old-school art store brimming with supplies. I thought the circular pre-stretched and primed canvases were kinda hilarious objects in-and-of themselves and it thought it would be even funnier and sillier if I were to put them to use. Alice Schnieder’s fruit shows have always been fundamentally about having fun and not overthinking things. For the tenth (and possibly final) fruit show I figured I would succumb wholly to the theme and not overthink things for once!
