I create installations composed of long-lasting, found materials that have a life cycle extending far before and far beyond the crystallized moment of the artwork. These installations are a conduit for the audience to re-experience the physicality of the space, and to interpret materials in unfamiliar ways. I want the work to find its way into another place in the audience’s mind, as an experiential proposition for the viewer to digest according to their own personal narrative.
This piece, Untitled (Kerrytown Concert House), was made specifically in reaction to the size, shape, and limitations of the space. I did not approach this work with a specific message or intention in mind beyond activating the space and the materials in a new way. I hope that the regular concert goers to this venue will use my piece as a visual tool to get lost in reverie as they listen to music made in the moment of this place.
