The colored plastic grocery bags hanging from the ceiling function as abstract flowers in my mind. The cut and tied together strips of bags are green around the flowers like a calyx. The green strips continue as vine-like lines that transition to brown around the column and near the floor to parallel the color shifts in plants as they get woodier around the ground. I chose to use black liquor store bags with gold and bronze text to match the aesthetic of the dark wooden finish of the linoleum floor at the Stamelos Gallery Center.

Special thanks to Kevin Headrick and Kal Haddad from UM-Dearborn facilities for consulting on and approving this installation!
