YEAH YOY, Foch was displayed in Hart Plaza during the Detroit Techno Festival. The sculpture was designed as a bench, offering an opportunity to lounge during the festival, and was sited in a location with no other available seating as respite for the festival goers. After 3 days of exposure to over 40,000 people the sculpture was well preserved due to the audience’s respect and appreciation for the hospitality the sculpture provided. The sculpture emitted its own lighting to transform the piece at night while illuminating the audience around it. The title “YEAH YOY, Foch” is a tribute to the artist Yayoi Kusama and the Foch neighborhood in Detroit where the materials were sourced through the removal of invasive trees.”
