Since 2014, Thompson has contributed annually to a fruit-themed group exhibition curated by Alice Schneider. The 2014 composting installation, The Goodson Street Garden Banana Processing Unit, utilizes banana peels from the opening night to feed worms normally used as bait in fishing. Watermelon? Radish! (2015) is a cultural nod to a Chinese tradition. Thompson desiccates a watermelon using an ancient cutting and drying technique. He ends up with a planter for radishes. In 2018, he created Cellulite Citrus in a Lululemon Bag as a critique of American fitness culture: a lemon net is filled with dimply foam lemons in an imitation of orange-peel skin. The 2016 sculpture, Peach Pit Stratification Station, displays stored peach pits in a refrigerator. Along with growing instructions, the pits are given to visitors, promoting access to healthy food. These works support food sustainability, waste reduction, and the use of local and seasonal produce.
